Maya Peters Kostman | mkostman@bu.edu | SciArt
Maya is a PhD student in the MCBB Biology program at Boston University.
Originally from Brazil, Maya received their BA in both Molecular and Cell Biology, and Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley where they worked in the Isacoff Lab and taught organic chemistry study groups. Maya is interested in how single cells use electrical signaling to communicate and coordinate community behavior in biofilms.
They’re also excited about the intersections of science, art and education and making science more accessible. Outside the lab they can be found doing art and raising an army of plants.
